What brought you into the furry fandom and for how long?: I just kind of fell into it. There was not defining moment, no one moment were I told myself that I should join in. I just flowed into it before I realized anything was different with me than with others. I guess it would be fair to say about 6 years now since the start and about 1 year of really owning it.
Lifestyler, Fan, Role player, Other? I don't even know.... I would say somewhere on the low end of the lifestyler spectrum....
What you like to do when out gathering with other people into furry: I don't know because I never really have. My friends find it really weird and my boyfriend tolerates it to make me happy. I had a friend (that I miss dearly) that was a fur, but she moved away a long time ago. |

Partial clothing issue Heya! I only have partial suits and I've run into a slight issue - I have a lovely outfit I've bought for my partial Shirik only the front is cut slightly too low and the neckflap doesn't tuck in properly. It DOES cover the fur but the outfit has a tendancy to slide down slightly and expose skin. Now, to prevent this I have thought of two options: Option 1: Use a similar coloured fur and attach a piece using snaps in order to extend it temporarily. Preferred method as I intend to have a bodysuit commissioned and don't really want to have to deal with removing snaps from the front of the mask. Option 2: add snaps to the inside of the costume and the outside of the neck flap, connect together to make a "seal" between the two pieces of fabric so the dress stays up and the neckfur doesn't ride up too high. Which option do you think would be better? Also, any other suggestions are more than welcome! I have tried simply wearing a tshirt under it to try and just show black fabric underneath (the dress is black and purple) but it just didn;'t look right :\ the fur is literally just a few inches too short so if I added a few inches of a similar coloured fur it wouldn't really be too noticeable, plus I happen to have a long-pile tan colour to hand that I could use. closet
We have a huge walk-in closet where we store all of our fur. Every couple of months I take a day off to reorganize everything because it usually gets so cluttered and messy that we can't even get to the back of it. Today I found a whole bunch of things that have gone missing for a while, and a lot of material I completely forgot about. so much potential.
I am just about to be finished with a costume so i'm starting another today. I just found out i won't be paid the rest of what's owed on this current one for another two months, so I guess i get to keep it hostage til then. I'm not taking payments anymore after this, it's just too unreliable. figuring things out as i go. |

hello!
just wanted to post a hello! i'm moving to aracta in decmember, i'm very excited. i went up for a week in june with my family, and fell in love with the area. my husband has been telling me for years he wanted to move up, so the vacation was a good persuasion technique.
i'm a sahm, i have two boys. my older son is going to be 5 very soon, and my younger son will be 2. so please, if you have any input on kid-freindly stuff toss it my way. we've been haunting the humboldt CL to see the price range of apts/local items. (cute pics of the boys and more "about me" in my userinfo for the interested)
my husband works in welding down here in OC, but i have no idea if that will change when we move.
i had so much fun camping and hiking while we were up. we stayed at albee creek, and then patrick's point. we drove up tp fern canyon for a day, and spent a day in arcata proper looking around. unfortunatly i also go to see the er, but i was impressed. it's such a different feel than where i am currently.
is the farmers market year round? how is the library?
i'm very impateint, the current weather where i am is killing me. it's 80-110 with 70% humidity and no breeze.
i did notice while windowshopping in the sqaure that there was some pretty crazy hippy discrimintation in the nicer stores. is that common?
is there a local yoga studio/gym that has yoga that isn't insanely expensive? i go to 24 hour fitness now (after childcare costs i spend about $50-60 a month), but there isn't one of those up by you guys ^^

o.o First off, happy birthday to Sir ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) razorwyvern :) Hope you can find time to relax and have a good day :) In related Canadian news, my trip to see cyrakhis in Canada has fallen through :p Not surprised though, this is why I don't get my hope up when planning anything with a furry or dragon XD ( the exception being my trip to see Ria later in the year, my hope is already overflowing for that ^^; ) Now I don't know if I'm gonna even bother with FA:U, lord knows I spent enough money at anthrocon. And I just spent over $500 this last weekend for car maintenance, glasses, and other odds and ends. So a break would probably behoove me XD Also posted a rare clean story over at DA. Let me express here how much I utterly hate their story submission process now. Gone is the ability to use word documents or any kind of text file, there is no text entry box like there used to be, now you are allowed to upload an HTML file or a PDF file only. So I tried to be lazy and just use Word's 'Save as HTML' feature, of course that f***ed the shit out of DA. So I did PDF instead. Anyone who wants to see the story has to manually click the Download link to get at it, now. I'll see about converting it to simpler HTML (I felt like a dirty whore using Microsoft Word's HTML feature >>; ) when I'm not lazy later. started working again on my polarbear after 2 years in storage I am finally (hopefully) going to finish my polar bear. BUT, I need some ideas. I was thinking of adding some sore of clothing/leather to the outfit to ware on the suit. I was thinking of some sort of cross between Native American/mid evil type outfit. I started making some jewelery (earring) & am working on a mock up of some type of leather armor'ish type helm/headdress. & now I'm out of ideas & not sure what type of material to use that is leather like & not expensive. here is what i have so far Tundra now, do you see him more with a staff or sward? or would ether work? I have both. the sward I have is a replica of the original Conan the barbarian's & the staff i have is around 6' with leather wrapped grip with tassels of leather. any & all ideas welcome. I was hoping to debut him this October if I can get my tail in gear :P Oh! Also, any thoughts on lining for the body? I may add in some body foam to bulk out a few spots so I'm sure I will need to line the inside. I just do not know what material would make the best lining. Thanks! |

Discovery Channel Fact:The California Sabertooth Cat suffers the same consequences of exhaustion that most humans do: long naps on the couch and lots of cold beer.
Far Wolf: "Stupid cats. Why study for your PE exam when you can nap on the couch after drinking all my goddamn beer?" 46 days since this slew of chaos began. That’s how long it’s been since I’ve really had a decent break. This was the first major project I’ve ever undertaken, the first part of many parts that are to take place over the course of this summer. Two full weeks at sea, where every mechanical failure that could have occurred did occur. After three weeks worth of 16-hour days and overcoming non-stop mechanical issues, we did something that has never been done before. We now have the worlds most unique and advanced system working at 100% capability. I still can’t believe we made what was once science fiction a reality, and I truly can’t believe that I was a part of it. Though it sucks I missed Anthrocon (I will be there next year!), the tradeoff in opportunity was necessary and fair. It was an once-in-a-lifetime chance to be a part of something unique; and I simply couldn’t pass it by. Thanks so much for the voicemails and countless slew of text-messages I received from friends telling me to "F#*k first class, get your ass out to AC!" All of them brought a smile; all of them gave me warmth while I was working in the cold of night. Thanks everyone for helping to keep me inspired. I’ve seen some amazing things in the past few weeks. Incredible science, and a fascinating journey through some of the deepest, darkest reaches of our world. I’m almost there…the light at the end of the tunnel is rapidly approaching. Support is coming out of the corners of our office, offering hands of help—and a chance to alleviate some of the tremendous burden. 
A small glimpse into the unknown of the deep ocean, very much what I’ve been looking into the past few weeks.It’s an interesting and indescribable phenomena, this furry thing is. I really don’t know how to put it into words, except to say that somehow, it keeps a different and colorful piece of my soul locked away from all the politics, technology, science and exhaustion created by my job. Simply knowing you folks exist puts a spring to my step. I just don’t know how else to describe it. Anyway, I have lasted the better part of the storm. Currently, I’m in stasis. The boat is offshore, the effort currently lead by my counterpart. I’m trying to get in what little relaxation I can while I have the time available. I purchased my tickets for MFF in Chicago, as United seemed to have a fairly good rate going. Plus I upgraded to first-class, just for the hell of it (hahahaha! That’s right; I did it anyway!) To say that I miss my girl, jilduck, would be making an enormous understatement. My affection for her has grown considerably in past weeks. Through our many hours of weekly conversation, she has patiently endured my many worried thoughts of work and politics. Although we currently live 1500 miles apart, the nightly calls, letters, and random thinking-of-you gifts have been passing the days quickly between when we get to see each other again. I really love this girl, and I simply can’t wait to see her again. I leave you with a particularly beautiful picture my girlfriend commissioned of the two of our characters together. I’ve never had anyone do anything like this with one of my characters. Furry or no, it’s beautiful all the same.

Suites at the Holiday Inn: Last Call
Okay, we have made it through the waiting list for Suites from the Doubletree and still have a few available over at the Holiday Inn.
We have 5 suites available there for $199 a night. We will have to release those back to the hotel by August 1st if there's no interest in them. Campsite / Picnic Update and Reminder Two post in one! CampingSite reservations will close on Monday July 28th so if you are still thinking about camping, please let us know soon. We are out of parking spots, but we still have some spots open for people wanting to camp. Those of you who have reserved spots should be getting a detailed email about what you need to do. PicnicSaturday, August 2nd is the FC2009 Picnic!As usual, we'll provide the food and drinks. More food is always welcome, though, as are folks to help out in setting up, cleaning, and otherwise making the picnic happen. This year, we will be at the Willow picnic site at Lake Chabot, with the grilling kicking off around Noon. There will be a tent there for people to change into costumes To get to Lake Chabot, The East Bay Regional Parks website contains maps of the park, directions and other information for visitors. There is a parking fee of $5/vehicle, which is waived for members of EBRPD. Dogs are allowed, but there is a $2 "dog fee". Basic directions to get to the park are listed below. The Willow picnic site is just a short walk down the East Shore Trail. On I-580 westbound, take the Strobridge Avenue exit. Turn right on Strobridge, right on Castro Valley Boulevard, and left on Lake Chabot Road. The Lake Chabot Marina is about two miles ahead on the right. On I-580 eastbound, exit at Redwood Road and go left, go left at Castro Valley Boulevard, right at Lake Chabot Road, and follow the directions above. From I-580 in San Leandro, exit at Fairmont Drive and go east (uphill). The marina entrance will be to the left at the bottom of the hill. Hope to see you all there! |

Info about an artist
Hi everyone. I am new to this community but i have a question. Does anyone know anything about BEEEJAAY? She is an artist i commissioned at Megaplex08 for a badge and a Scar picture she had already drawn. She said it would be done by end of con. End of con comes and she still has yet to finish it. SO later on about a month later i remember she owed me art and i message her on YIM. She said she sent it but to the wrong zip code and would send it as she got it back. Well, another month came and went with still no art. I don't have her cellphone just her yim and LJ. So its mid june and im getting irritated very much so. I am constantly being lenient to the fact she always has some personal issue or is constantly working or she "never" has time to go to the post office. She basically stole 30$ from me, along with one of my other badges. She constantly gets off yahoo when i log on, and wont answer any of my messages. Yet, STILL manages to find time to do other peoples commissions. Am i in the wrong here? i feel i was pretty good of a customer to give an artist THAT much time without badgering or getting agitated at said artist. now she is just a thief. So please watch out for her,and if you see her tell her i demand my art or my money.

Making floppy ears?
Heyas all! Long time no post! But anyways, moving on...I am making a black lab partial for another friend of mine. Now I pretty much have the head all set to be furred, it's just I am having questions on how to make the ears properly floppy. I have done three perky eared heads and know the basics of those. I am rather stumped as to how to form the floppy ones. Now, I figured just having them longer and with no inside structure aside from maybe a strip of foam at the bases to add a littler perk and ridigity to them, but I am wanting opinions or advice from other that have done floppy eared heads. |

Hello! Update time WOO! Ok so far this is my fox/wolf which i dont know what to make him BUT i was thinking more of the lines of a fox :] He is coming along very nicely and im fallowing mixedcandy's work but im a little stumped. Mixed candy and the ears that they make kinda turn outward AND ITS ADORIBLE! i was wonder how to do that and make them so adorible! Blue Moon Fabric? Well, after searching for a quite a while, I may have found the fur I can use for the head and arms. It's the right color and is a reasonable price. http://www.bluemoonfabric.com/Viewproduc t.aspx?pid=8190  However, This place doesn't sell swatches I don't think, and I'm kind of nervous about this fur. Has anyone purchased from this store, or, better yet, purchased this exact fur? It says that it's shag, is it an OK fur to use?
